SNAP-8 (also known as Acetyl Octapeptide-3) is a synthetic peptide used primarily in cosmetic formulations as a topical anti-wrinkle ingredient — often described as a “Botox-like” peptide for its ability to relax facial tension and reduce expression lines.

Mechanism of Action:

·       SNAP-8 works by modulating muscle contractions that cause dynamic wrinkles (expression lines).

·       It does this by interfering with the SNARE complex — a group of proteins involved in neurotransmitter release at the neuromuscular junction.

·       By reducing this neurotransmitter release, SNAP-8 decreases muscle contraction, leading to smoother skin over time.
